A Picture is Worth A Thousand Words

A picture is worth a thousand words.

‘In this fast-paced world, where the emphasis is on immediacy, a still photograph stops time. It gives the viewer a moment to think, to react, to feel’ – Renee Byer.

Renee is a photographer. She has travelled around the world, taking ‘in the moment’ shots of what she sees. Speaking at a TEDx talk in 2009, Renee presents a slide show of some of her photos.

They are beautiful, startling, heart-breaking and a fantastic reminder of how quickly life can fly past us. Renee’s pictures manage to capture the striking beauty – and at times ugliness – of life; the whole package is there. It’s certainly got me thinking about picking up a camera more often…

Oh my – that last feature is heart-rending. Witnessing the tragedy of other people’s lives can be a very powerful and moving experience
