The Costs of Living an Unexamined Life

The unexamined life is not worth living for a human being. – Socrates

Unexplored potential is unfulfilled potential.

Unexplored dreams are unfulfilled dreams.

Unexplored wishes and desires are lost wishes and desires, lost opportunities, and closed doors.

Unexplored beliefs, judgements opinions will affect you – and not in a good way.

Unexplored feelings, dismissed as unacceptable, rationalized away using “shoulds” or “shouldn’ts” will make themselves known. They will come out in other ways. They come back stronger, and will keep coming back, shouting louder every time until you hear them.

******

Explored potential gives you choice to fulfil that potential.

Explored dreams give you choice.

Explored wishes and desires equals wishes and desires on the table, doors remaining open, choice.

Explored beliefs, judgements and opinions will affect you – and in a good way.

Explored feelings, accepted for what they are, protected from the “shoulds” and “shouldn’ts” stay manageable and at surface level. The more we are able to accept them as part of who we are, the more their power diminishes.

There is the unexamined live that is not worth living, or the examined life that is worth everything…

Which life do you want?
